STEP 1: Read the Rules
1. How to Enter. A minimum $20 entry fee donation is required for your first song. You may enter up to two additional songs at $10 each. You may enter online by completing the 3 Steps outlined on this page. We do not accept mail-in entries. Deadline to submit is August 10, 2024 at 11:59 pm. Do not submit unless you are willing and available to perform in the Show on October 5, 2024 in Branson, MO at Pepsi Legends Theater. Only participants who actually perform their song in the Show will be eligible for prize offerings. The Submissions Judges will decide on the Top Ten by September 6, 2024 after which HOOKED! staff will notify you whether you made the Top Ten or not. At that time, the Top Ten will be given all pertinent information regarding the Show, including sound check and Show check-in times. Failure to adhere to the given schedule could result in your disqualification from the contest. If selected for the Top Ten, please be prepared to send a photo and brief bio to be used for website, printed program, social media and other promotional/production purposes.
2. Eligibility. The Contest is open to any independent amateur or semi-professional songwriter, band or artist anywhere. HOOKED! Songwriting Contest broadly defines an amateur or semi-professional songwriter, band or artist as an individual or entity whose personal income is not primarily from original music-related sources (i.e. songwriting royalties, artist royalties, merchandise sales, live performance, synchronization licenses, record label advances, publishing advances, etc.). By submitting, you are agreeing that you meet the criteria as described above and you represent and warrant that (a) all registration information you submit is truthful and accurate; (b) you will maintain the accuracy of such information; (c) you are 12 years of age or older; and (d) your entry to the Contest does not violate any applicable law or regulation. If you are under 18 years of age, however, you must have permission and clearance to enter the Contest from your parent or legal guardian. Entry to the Contest is void where prohibited. Top Ten finalists are notified by email address or phone number and must perform in the Show on October 5, 2024 to qualify to be judged for the prizes. If any of the Top Ten finalists do not respond to notifications within three (3) days, we reserve the right to contact those next in line until we have filled up ten slots for the Show on October 5, 2024. Your song may be performed by you as a solo artist or as a group/band. If you are not a performing songwriter, you may elect to have your song performed by another vocalist/artist.
3. Judging. This Contest is a talent and skills-based event. All entries are judged based on the quality of the lyrics, melodies, composition/arrangement and performance. Quality of recording and/or production will not be considered, although presenting the best recorded and produced representation of your song is highly recommended. All entries will first be screened by a panel of professional Submissions Judges who will select the Top Ten contestants for the Show. The Show Judges will hear and judge the Top Ten’s songs for the first time at the Show on October 5, 2024. As mentioned above, once the initial screening process has been completed the Top Ten finalists among all entries will then be invited to perform their entry at the Show on October 5, 2024 for the chance to win one of the prize offerings.
